Researching your Consultant Neurologist can help you make an informed decision before making an appointment. Dr Paviour’s Patient Testimonials speak for themselves and seek to confirm his place as a highly regarded neurologist.

Dr Paviour is rated with 4.86 stars out of 5 on Doctify. This is a platform that focuses on helping you make the right choice when it comes to your health. They have made it easier by providing patients with comprehensive, verified reviews so that you can make an informed decision that’s right for you.

Dr Paviour’s Patient Testimonials

Patients take the time to write reviews once they have interacted with the medical professional. Dr Paviour’s Patient Testimonials and scores are based on almost 30 genuine reviews.

One verified patient took the time to write a review following a private consultation.
‘’Dr Paviour couldn’t have been kinder. He listened so carefully and considerately, thought logically and explained really well. I am delighted I decided to get a private consultation with him and can’t recommend him highly enough. A lovely manner is so important to get the best out of a consultation. Communication is excellent, both from him personally and his delightful practice manager, Kjai. Obviously, also, a very clever man! I’m very grateful.’’

Another patient wrote ‘’Extremely kind, courteous and professional. Dr Paviour takes the time to understand what is wrong and will work with you to resolve those issues that negatively impact your quality of life. A true gentleman who genuinely cares for his patients.’’

One patient who added to Dr Paviour’s Patient Testimonials had been experiencing migraines.
‘’I was in an extremely anxious state when I arrived for my appointment with Dr Paviour. He took pains to listen, not only to my symptoms but also to my fears about the potential underlying cause for these. After discussing my migraine history, current symptoms, and anxiety levels, he reassured me that he thought it unlikely that the cause was sinister. Nevertheless, as I had hoped he would, he recommended an MRI to be on the safe side. Dr Paviour was also able to give me immediate suggestions as to how I might better ‘manage’ my migraines and improve my anxiety levels, all of which was very helpful and comforting.’’

Dr Paviour is a highly regarded and skilled consultant neurologist in London. He has clinics in Chelsea, Wimbledon and Harley Street on various days so finding a suitable time and location is straight forward.

If you need to see a Consultant Neurologist in London, it is important to find a doctor who meets your medical needs. It is also crucial to select a consultant that you are comfortable with and that you can talk to. Diagnosing and treating neurological conditions depends on the doctor getting a good understanding of precisely what you are experiencing.

How will a Consultant Neurologist help?

A neurologist is a medically qualified doctor dealing with disorders of the nervous system. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of disease that involve the central, peripheral and autonomic nervous systems.

Neurologists also manage conditions that affect the coverings of the brain (the meninges), the blood supply of the nervous system and muscles (as these are controlled by the nervous system).

Dr Paviour has many years’ experience in supporting patients with various medical conditions. These include migraines, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. Dr Paviour will undertake an initial consultation to understand the nature of the main symptoms you experience. He will review any previous medical problems you may have had and enquire about current and past medical treatments.

Dr Paviour may enquire about any conditions that run in the family. You will have a physical examination which will focus on the functioning of the nervous system so he has a full picture to be able to diagnose.

Book to see a Consultant Neurologist in London

Dr Paviour graduated in 1998 after training in London, winning the Medical School Gold Medal. He held junior medical jobs in London and at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. After passing his MRCP examinations, he returned to London and completed a PhD at the Institute of Neurology. He then completed specialist Neurology training in London.

He is highly rated as a Consultant Neurologist in London, by his peers and his patients. If you need to see Dr Paviour, then you can make an appointment today to speak to him. Feel free to contact us so we can discuss how we can help.

Dr Paviour is a highly regarded and skilled consultant neurologist at The London Clinic. The facility, located in West London, is a private healthcare organisation and a registered charity.

When looking for a neurologist, it is important to find a doctor who meets your medical needs.
He will undertake an initial consultation so he understands the nature of the main symptoms you experience. He will review any previous medical problems you may have had and enquire about current and past medical treatments.

Headaches can be debilitating and affect everyday life so finding treatment for headaches can improve health and wellbeing. The most common neurological disorder is headaches so visiting a private doctor could help long term conditions.

As an isolated symptom, it is very rarely caused by tumours or a ‘serious’ underlying disease, but nevertheless, it is often still a significant problem for the patient. It affects almost everyone occasionally, becoming a significant problem for an estimated 40% of people in the UK at some time in their lives.

Migraines affect 15% of the UK adult population and up to 100,000 people are absent from work or school because of migraine on any one day in the UK. This represents an enormous cost burden to employers.

Types of headaches

A headache is classified as ‘primary’ if there is not a structural abnormality (such as a tumour) or another clear trigger for it such as a head injury. The most common primary headache conditions are migraines and tension-type headaches.

Migraine headaches

Migraine headaches are usually one-sided, severe throbbing headaches with accompanying nausea. The discomfort is worsened by bright light and loud noise. They can last anywhere between four hours and three days and the headache needn’t be the most troublesome symptom.

Tension headaches

Tension-type headaches in its ‘episodic’ subtype affects up to 80% of people from time to time and is often referred to as a ‘normal’ or ‘ordinary’ headache. Consequently, most are treated without reference to physicians, using over-the-counter (OTC) medications which are generally effective.

Cluster headaches

Cluster headaches are much less common than migraines or tension headaches but are intense and frequently recurring.

Medication-overuse

Medication-overuse headaches are usually characterised by a chronic daily headache. This is the most common cause of ‘secondary’ headache and often presents in combination with migraines, or mild head or neck injury.
Caffeine overuse or withdrawal and a number of other medical conditions such as anaemia and thyroid problems can also cause headaches.

Dr Paviour’s Treatment for Headaches

Dr Paviour uses the latest technology to diagnose and find treatment for headaches. He will discuss your symptoms and medical history during your private consultation. He will also carry out a physical examination and relevant tests. These might include blood tests, imaging of the nervous system (MRI or CT) and electrical testing of nerves and muscles (EMG) or brain function (EEG).

Dr Paviour sees private patients at:
Parkside Hospital, Wimbledon
HCA Sydney Street, Chelsea
The London Clinic, 116 Harley Street

If you need treatment for headaches, then you can make an appointment today to speak to him. Feel free to contact us and we will discuss any symptoms and how Dr Paviour can help.

Most people in the UK have probably felt dizzy at some point. Often people feel dizzy for no particular reason, and the effects are short-lived. However, if a person frequently feels light-headed or unbalanced or that the world around them is ‘spinning’, it may be a sign of something more serious. The question then is, what is dizziness and how can I get help?

What is dizziness and how can I get help?

Causes

There are numerous reasons people can feel dizzy. The most common are:

Dehydration

Ear infections

Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels)

Hypotension (falls in blood pressure)

Migraines

Stress or anxiety

Getting Help

While some of these causes will be short-lived, others will need further investigation and treatment. A doctor or Consultant Neurologist will be able to provide both. They will start by trying to establish what type of dizziness a person has and the causes. Questions they may ask include:

When did the dizziness start?

How often does a person feel dizzy?

When does the dizziness happen?

How long does the dizziness last?

Are there any other symptoms, such as blurred vision or fainting?

To make sure you can answer these questions, it’s a good idea to keep a diary once you begin experiencing dizziness.

Once they identify the cause, they will agree on a treatment plan. This could be as simple as prescribing antibiotics if the dizziness is a result of an ear infection. However, if the dizziness is the result of an underlying health condition, they may prescribe medication.

Who to contact for help

People who are concerned about dizziness should contact their GP or a neurological specialist such as Dr Dominic Paviour. To find out more about how he can help you, contact him today on 020 7042 1850.
