Medicolegal Practice

Dr Paviour has more than five years’ experience of neurological medicolegal practice. Dr Paviour prepares reports for the Court (both Claimant and Defendant – 60/40 split) relating to Civil, Criminal and Clinical negligence cases. Dr Paviour prepares between 30-40 reports annually.

Dr Paviour has had sample reports independently assessed for quality by instructing lawyers via the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. For preliminary fee-free discussions regarding medico-legal instructions please email info@drpaviour.com

Fees charged

Fees are charged at £350 per hour and the time taken to complete the report may depend on the type and complexity of the case.

Fees may be quoted on a case by case basis by contacting Dr Paviour directly and arranging a preliminary discussion which will not be subject to a fee.

After a preliminary discussion, Dr Paviour will be able to confirm an approximate date that a completed report can be expected and the approximate number of hours that will be invoiced.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Dr Paviour has attended courses on medico-legal report writing for civil cases run by Bond Solon, the British Medical Association and ProSols, a course endorsed by the Expert Witness Institute (EWI).

Dr Paviour has undertaken training in clinical negligence report writing and is happy to have a preliminary discussion regarding his suitability to take on a case.

Dr Paviour has undertaken Medico-legal report writing and Court Room Skills training with The Royal College of Physicians as well as with “Specialist Info” and most recently with Bond Solon.

Dr Paviour has had anonymised reports independently assessed by a leading Solicitor associated with The Faculty of Expert Witnesses for Doctors (the FEW).

He has considerable clinical experience in a broad range of general neurological disorders and sees approximately 800 new and 1200 follow up patients in his clinical practice every year. This results in him seeing large numbers of patients with headache, neuropathy, fits faints and funny turns as well as other common neurological disorders and he has a specialist interest in movement disorders and neurological disorders in pregnancy.
